Gamini Central College

Our Story

A Century in the Hills

Founded on 7th May 1926, Gamini Central College was established through the efforts of the Nuwara Eliya Young Men's Buddhist Association under the leadership of C.M.C. Silva.

At a time when missionary education dominated the region, the school emerged to provide Sinhala Buddhist education opportunities for the children of Nuwara Eliya and the hill country.

Over the decades, Gamini Central College grew into one of the most respected national schools in Sri Lanka's central highlands.
